Patinal® Substance WR1 by Merck KGaA, Darmstadt Germany is an evaporation material consisting of carrier tablets made of an oxide mixture doped with a perfluorinated silane. It is developed for the deposition of hydrophobic layers by vacuum evaporation. Top coatings on AR coated glass or plastic lenses exhibit a very low wettability by water and therefore a lowered tendency to be contaminated by grease and fingerprints. Patinal® Substance WR1 is used in hydrophobic & oleophobic topcoat for ophthalmic lenses and AR coated glasses.
