Patinal® Substance H8 by Merck KGaA, Darmstadt Germany is an evaporation material. It is a high refractive index material composed of a mixture of titanium oxide and niobium oxide. It was developed for coatings on polymers with focus on stable evaporation conditions, low thermal substrate load and excellent UV-blocking.

It is used in ophthalmic, broadband anti-reflective (BBAR) coatings for precision optics.
