Exolit® AP 468 (TP)

Technical Datasheet | Supplied by Clariant
Exolit® AP 468 (TP) by Clariant acts as a halogen-free, micro-encapsulated flame retardant. It is based on a non-hygroscopic and non-flammable, highly water resistant ammonium polyphosphate (APP). Designed for solvent-based, semi- and fully- exposed intumescent coatings on wood or plastics and enables these materials to qualify for Building Material Class B (DIN EN 13501-1). It is manufactured from long-chain phase II APP by micro-encapsulation with melamine formaldehyde resin according to Clariant’s unique method. Exolit® AP 468 (TP) is suggested for PU resins, paper and wood gel coats, back and cable coatings. Casting resins based on epoxy or unsaturated polyester resins achieve the classification UL94-V0. Provides low viscosity in aqueous suspension, lower heat stability and improved powder flowability. Suitable as an "acid donor" and coated steel structures can meet the requirements of fire resistance classes specified in EN, DIN, BS and ASTM. It also enables to pass pool test (Dunkin’ Cookie Test) even at 35°C and enhances the water stability. Coatings based on Exolit® AP 468 (TP) can pass Climate Chamber Test according to ETAG 018-Y without topcoat.
