POLYSORB® isosorbide is a bio-based ingredient derived from sorbitol - is a cyclo-aliphatic monomer obtained from sorbitol dehydration. It is used in the synthesis of polyester polyols for use in coating applications. As a monomer or through its derivates, it enhances sustainability and coating properties.

• It increases the coating’s sustainability because it is totally bio-based, hence reducing levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
• It helps to enhance PU coating properties such as scratch and impact resistance and adhesion. In epoxy resins, its derivative shows a good UV resistance.

POLYSORB® isosorbide is ideal for formulating non-toxic and BPA-free high-performing coatings. It can also be considered to produce new derivatives such as acrylates, BADGE replacement, etc.
