DOWSIL™ 3 Additive

DOWSIL™ 3 Additive by Dow is a low viscosity, silanol functional silicone resin in toluene. Suitable for dispersion of inorganic pigment to prevent flooding and floating. Acts as a leveling agent with no slip. Used as a pigment dispersant in titanium dioxide white base paints during pigment grind or let-down. It is highly effective at low concentrations and easy to incorporate. It reduces separation, improves pigment dispersion and color consistency. Provides flow-out, gloss and flexibility. It offers low contribution to VOC and good cost-in-use. DOWSIL™ 3 Additive shows compatibility with epoxy, polyurethane, polyester, alkyd and acrylic binder systems. It finds application in formulating solvent-based industrial wood and trim coatings. The recommended dosage of this product is 2–10 weight percent of the titanium dioxide used. It can be used in pastels and grays. It has a shelf life of 36 months.
