BYK® -1780

Polyether-modified polydimethylsiloxane with hydrophobic solids. Acts as a defoamer. It is highly effective in aqueous systems, in particular in thick layer systems. It is extremely good at removing micro-foam from the coating and influences neither the transparency or gloss in high-gloss systems. BYK-1780 can be used in pigmented systems and in clear coatings. It is solvent-free. Used in architectural-, protective-, industrial-, wood and furniture coatings. It is particularly suited to aqueous printing inks, overprint varnishes and aqueous, radiation curable printing systems. Recommended levels are 0.2-1.0 % additive (as supplied) based upon total formulation.
