DISPERBYK® -184

DISPERBYK® -184 by BYK acts as a wetting and dispersing agent for aqueous coating systems. It is a solution of a high molecular weight block copolymer with pigment affinic groups. It deflocculates pigments through steric stabilization of the pigments. It provides equal electrical charge to pigments and thus avoid possible co-flocculation of pigments that are not equally charged. It offers high gloss and improved color strength. It increases transparency and hiding power of the pigments. It reduces viscosity. DISPERBYK® -184 facilitates the formation of water-pigment concentrates which contain resin. Its recommended dosage level for inorganic pigment is 15-20%, titanium dioxide is 4-6%, organic pigment is 20-45% and carbon black is 65-80%. It has a shelf life of 24 months.
