LUMIFLON® fluoropolymer resins have been used for more than 30 years to make highly weatherable corrosion resistant protective coatings. In the 1980’s a number of bridges in Japan were painted with a LUMIFLON coating system and a conventional coating system in use at that time. The conventional systems were left in place until they failed, usually in less than 20 years. The LUMIFLON systems were examined periodically but have been in use now for over 30 years. This bulletin examines the performance of several of these coating systems.
