Coil Coating Part III - The Coatings and their Markets

SpecialChem / May 4, 2005

There are four major markets for coil coated material. Each market is predominately served by one or two specific resin types. For example, almost all appliance type products are produced with material coil coated with polyesters. As a result, coatings companies have better sales and marketing results when concentrating on those markets that predominately use the type of coating that they produce. Market designations could often be interchangeable with some companies considering doors as a consumer product or barrels as a business product. This is often the result of aligning sales and/or market territories and differences with this list, or any list should not be considered as significant. As a result, it is often misleading to declare one market as being larger than another unless you use a lot of footnotes to qualify a market. It is equally important to understand the quantifier that one is using to classify markets as being larger or smaller than others. It is a common perception that Construction is the largest market in Europe, Asia and the Americas.
