A-C® 5180

A-C® 5180 by Honeywell is a low molecular weight ethylene acrylic acid (EAA) copolymer with an acrylic acid content of 20%. Its acid number of 180 greatly aids emulsification and it can even be dispersed in water. It is a soft, tacky, low melting, high polarity. Exhibits high melt clarity, low melt viscosity and very low color. Typical applications utilize the high carboxylic acid functionality to promote adhesion to difficult surfaces, compatibilize polymeric mixtures and dilute higher molecular weight compatible materials (EVA, EAA, etc.) for improved wetting and increased adhesive/cohesive balance. A-C® 5180 is used in solvent-borne coatings to control rheology. Designed for packaging, medical, graphic arts and other industries.
