It has neutral pH, rutile crystal structure and high transparency without pigmentary properties. It exhibits a functionalized surface through inorganic coatings. It is surface treated with aluminum oxide and iron(III) oxide. It finds application in transparent coatings providing long term UV screening for various substrates like wood and plastics.
