Dapro® 5005

Technical Datasheet | Supplied by Elementis
Dapro® 5005 by Elementis is a special drier for modified polyurethanes and alkyds. It is used as a chelating catalyst to replace cobalt driers where cobalt causes undesirable side effects. Hydrolysis resistant to minimize the initial and post-dry color effects normally associated with cobalt. It offers high compatibility in conventional solvent-borne systems. Particularly useful in clear and brightly pigmented oil- or alkyd-modified urethanes and in conventional alkyds which tend to discolor. Reduces discoloration of clear polyurethane films, improves initial color of clears, bright whites and light colors. Increases alkali resistance of polyurethane films and resistance to yellowing of air-dry alkyd finishes exposed to prolonged heat or to alkaline fumes, prevent loss of dry on aging. Recommended usage level of Dapro® 5005: While can be used as a sole drier, optimum results are achieved in combination with calcium and zirconium driers. The suggested starting point as % by weight on total vehicle solids is: 0.5-0.7% of it, 0.1-0.3% of zirconium (as metal), 0.05-0.10% of calcium (as metal).
