HS-40 (Alkali) distributed by Advent Silica acts as a binder and surface modifier. It is an alkaline, versatile, small particle sized, aqueous dispersion of colloidal silica with 40% silica. The average particle size can be fine-tuned between 10 and 20 nm. It is a sodium stabilized, translucent liquid, slightly more viscous than water. It is produced through the hydrolysis of very fine silica powder, a technique that yields colloidal silica characterized by its lower level of impurities (metal ions), more uniform and even particle distribution.
