Vinyls
The properties of vinyl coatings are based on the physical and chemical nature of vinyl resins introduced as well as on the nature and number of substituents. Vinyl paints and coatings are produced by conventional methods and applied by brushing, spraying, roller coating and dipping. Vinyl coatings find uses in marine applications because of their extreme toughness and impermeability. Several types of vinyl resins like polyvinyl chloride (PVC), vinyl chloride polymers, vinyl acetate polymer emulsions, polyvinylacetate (PVAC), and polyvinyl alcohol are used in paints and coatings.
