Polysulfides in Action: Formulations and Applications

On-Demand Course

Recorded on Dec 1, 2023

Faster achieve your adhesives’ & sealants’ specific needs (oil/chemical resistance, fast low temperature cure, high strength, creep resistance...) by understanding the polysulfide technology, which raw material will work best for you and the ways to test your final sealants and adhesives.

Join William as he discusses key challenges, he faced in the evaluation of polysulfide formulations and help you understand your role in the process of solving performance issues. Join this course to know:

1. Current and future market applications of polysulfides
2. Statistically designed experiments to optimize performance and cost
3. Knowledge on newer raw materials and how to evaluate those

Why should you view this course?

Polysulfides are one of the oldest elastomers used to make sealants and adhesives (almost 100 years old), and still the polysulfide market size is estimated to be valued at US$ 3 billion in 2023 and is expected to surpass US$ 6 billion in 2033.The fact that polysulfides can be formulated to several demanding applications like construction sealants, transportation sealants and insulating glass adhesives makes this elastomer still commercially important.

But Polysulfides are tricky in formulations as the selection of correct raw materials, mixture ratio and the amount of catalyst to get the reaction going still troubles formulators. Time to understand how to tailor the specific needs of adhesives and sealants using polysulfides through correct tools and formulations techniques.

Through this course you’ll be able to:

  1. Learn basics of polysulfide sealants and adhesives that also can be applied to other types of sealants and adhesive technology (polyurethane, waterborne, etc.)

  2. Understand the selection of correct raw materials and their effect on performance while solving issues.

  3. Find out ways to improve performance and cost, by finding answers to ‘where to start’ and ‘what to do when something goes wrong

  4. Gain the formulations basics and the steps in the development through examples of DOE and how they can be tailored to meet specific needs.

Who should view this course?

Adhesive and sealant formulators who are seeking new formulations and market opportunities.
