Crown Trade Launches Steracryl Mold Inhibiting Paint for Decorative Surfaces

Published on 2012-10-04. Author : SpecialChem

Now is the time of year when condensation can take its toll on properties across the UK - and Crown Trade offers decorating professionals the right paint for the job to help their clients get to grips with the problem.

As temperatures drop outside, a combination of poor insulation, ineffective glazing, inadequate ventilation and temperature differentials between rooms can all conspire to create ideal conditions for condensation to form around windows, and on ceilings and wall surfaces.

Condensation is caused as moisture in the air - typically caused by cooking, washing and drying laundry - hits cool surfaces.

Left unchecked these moist surfaces present an ideal breeding ground for mold spores. Not just unsightly, mold growth is widely reported to exacerbate respiratory diseases and can ultimately cause interior woodwork, plasterwork and furnishings to rot.

Crown Trade's Steracryl Mold Inhibiting Paint is available in both Matt and Durable Acrylic Eggshell finishes and in a choice of colors.

Supplied in five liter packs, application is by brush, roller or spray. As they are water based, they are quick drying, with the first coat is normally ready for recoating in just four hours.

Debbie Orr, Crown Trade Senior Brand Manager, said: "Both paints contain an effective fungicide, specially developed to maintain decorated surfaces by inhibiting the development of mold growth on the paint film.

"They have also undergone stringent fungal tests carried out to British Standard BS3900:G6.

"Furthermore, the acrylic eggshell system is washable, making it ideal for use in kitchens and bathrooms where condensation can be particularly problematic."
