Cornelius to Distribute Huber's Hydrex® P & Zeolex ® 123 Fillers for Paper & Coatings

Cornelius announced that Huber's Hydrex® and Zeolex® fillers are available in the UK.

Hydrex® P

A precipitated silica filler that offers superior optical properties in fine paper, and cost savings in recycled paper and test liners. Hydrex® P is a preciptated silica filler than offers superior properties in fine paper and cost savings where recycled pulp is used. Hydrex® P offers :

  • high light scattering so excellent brightness
  • good oil absorption so excellent printability
  • In fine papers these properties allow a paper with superior optical properties to be produced.

Where recycled pulp is used and filler levels are limited, the use of Hydrex P means that chemical pulp levels can be reduced and cheaper, mechanical pulp used, delivering cost savings.

Zeolex ® 123

Sodium aluminosilicate pigment for coating and filler applications, especially useful as TiO2 extender in decor papers.

Zeolex® 123 is a synthetic aluminosilicate filler than offers excellent properties and, particular, is suited as a TiO2 extender. Its features inlcude :

  • neutral pH
  • moderate oil absorption
  • high brightness
  • medium particle size

TiO2 is used in fine papers for its exceptional brighness and opacity. However, it has become expensive and scarce so Zeolex 123 can be recommended as an extender to partially replace TiO2, helping to resolve supply issues and offering cost savings.
