Baltimore Innovations Launches Fumed Silica Powders SUPRASILâ„¢ to Thicken Low-Viscosity Products

Published on 2011-08-05. Author : SpecialChem

Coatings Industry specialist Baltimore Innovations, is increasing its range of rheological additives on the 1st February with the launch of its high-quality SUPASIL™ powders. This new range of fumed silica powders are mainly aimed at those wanting to thicken products which have low viscosity. However, they are extremely versatile, and can also be used as anti-caking and anti-sagging agents as well.

"The fastidious control of particle-size and superb pricing makes SUPASIL™ highly attractive to customers, and initial customer feedback has been extremely positive," says Kevin Neale, Manager of Baltimore's Coatings Additives Division.

SUPASIL™ powders are white, non-toxic, particles of micronized silica. Their size is very tightly controlled and can be produced in grades from 7 to 40 nanometres wide, which in turn have specific surface areas between 70 - 400 m2/g. These new powders offer high transparency and are most likely to be used by those companies who need to solve the sort of formulation problems that have been generated by recent coatings legislation.

In addition to use in the coatings, inks and adhesives industries, these new SUPASIL™ powders are also likely to be of interest to formulators in the rubber, sealants and colour concentrate sectors, as their properties can offer these companies similarly attractive application and product-processing advantages.
