SSPC and NACE International Sign Agreement to Combine Operations

agreement-distributionSSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings and NACE International, The Corrosion Society announce that they have entered into a definitive agreement to combine. This unified endeavor brings together two non-profit professional associations who are among the global leaders in corrosion and coatings standards, training and certification.

Combination to Serve Needs of Coatings Industry


This is an important and exciting step forward for everyone involved in the fields of corrosion and coatings. This step brings together two strong organizations and providing stakeholders with more value at a time when they need it. The transaction is expected to close in October 2020, subject to the approval of the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.

NACE and SSPC have begun taking steps to integrate programs and operations and expect the transition to take place on January 1, 2021. Total integration of the organizations’ operations is expected to occur sometime beyond that date. Bob Chalker, chief executive officer of NACE International, will serve as the CEO of the new organization which will retain the staff and facilities of NACE’s headquarters in Houston, Texas and SSPC’s headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and all staff and offices located in the U.S. and abroad.
