SigmaKalon and Bollig & Kemper GmbH & Co. KG have reached an agreement for the acquisition by SigmaKalon of its Coil Coatings Activities.

Bollig & Kemper GmbH & Co. KG is a medium-sized, family-owned producer of high quality industrial, automotive and plastics coatings as well as pigment pastes and resins, based in Cologne – around 80 km from the Bochum site. The contract includes the sale of products, technology and customer contracts of the coil division. Turnover of the Coil division in 2005 was around 18 million Euros.

With this acquisition SigmaKalon Business Unit Industrial Coatings enforces its coil coatings activities in general and will be able to enter the aluminium segment of the coil market. In this way the SigmaKalon coil business is less depending from market fluctuations.

SigmaKalon will buy the technology of the coil coatings and the related resins. The production will be reshuffled from Cologne to Bochum and Cieszyn. The Sales force, R&D specialists and production employees will be transferred to the Bochum facilities. In orderly and stepwise transfer of the business in 2006 will guarantee a constant high quality in supply and support to the customers.

The closure of this transaction is subject to regulatory approval from the German and Austrian competition authorities.

We are convinced that in this way we can guarantee the active role of SigmaKalon in a strongly consolidating coil coatings market.
