EXTON, Pa. -- Global specialty chemicals manufacturer Sartomer Company announces the appointment of Lipscomb Chemical (Long Beach, Calif.) as a stocking distributor. The announcement marks an expansion of the relationship between the two companies; previously, Lipscomb Chemical was a Sartomer agent.

Under the expanded arrangement, Lipscomb Chemical is responsible for sales of Sartomer products to the rubber, coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers markets in California, Arizona, and Nevada. Lipscomb distributes Sartomer's Poly bd® resins, Krasol® resins, Ricon® resins, SMA resins, and methacrylate monomers.

Sartomer's hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene Poly bd and Krasol resins are unique polyols for polyurethane systems. They are used in a variety of coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomer applications where excellent water resistance, very low moisture vapor transmission rates, corrosion resistance, hydrolytic stability, low-temperature flexibility, and good electrical insulation properties are required.

Ricon resins are specialty additives for peroxide- and sulfur-cure elastomer systems. The polybutadiene-based resins impart exceptional compression-set resistance, hardness, adhesion, and elongation to hoses, belts, wire, cable, adhesives, TPEs, and sealants. They also provide oil, heat, chemical, and solvent resistance. The Ricon product line ranges from low-to high-vinyl microstructure, features molecular weights of 1,500 to 10,000 and includes liquid copolymers of styrene and butadiene.

Sartomer's low molecular weight SMA resins - styrene/maleic anhydride polymers - are used in a variety of applications, including powder coatings, overprint varnishes, pigment dispersions, and waterborne coatings. SMA resins exhibit performance properties that include high functionality, high thermal properties, low color, and low VOC emissions. Sartomer's line of methacrylate monomers includes a broad range of materials for rubber applications. These products impart low compression set, excellent modulus, scorch safety, hardness, and other performance properties to hoses, rubber rolls, and various molded goods.

Lipscomb Chemical, headquartered in Long Beach, Calif., is a custom technical sales organization, providing specialty chemicals and technical assistance to the paint, plastics, graphic arts, rubber, and adhesives businesses in the western and southwestern U.S. Sartomer Company, part of TOTAL's Chemicals branch, is a U.S.-based manufacturer of specialty chemicals. Headquartered in Exton, Pa., Sartomer provides a variety of specialty chemicals designed to enhance processing and performance characteristics in coatings, inks, elastomers, adhesives, sealants, composites, and other demanding applications. The company's product offering includes more than 620 monomers and oligomers; an extensive line of photoinitiators; Poly bd®, Ricon®, Krasol®, and SMA® specialty resins; Norsolene® hydrocarbon resins; and other specialty chemicals.
