PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Rohm and Haas Company (NYSE:ROH) will implement list and off-list price increases for acrylic emulsions, solution and solid-grade acrylic resins, vinyl-acetate-based emulsions, additives, and colorants sold to the architectural coatings, industrial coatings, construction and building products, graphic arts, and the textile and non-woven industries in North America. An increase of $0.06 per wet pound for acrylic-based products and $0.05 per wet pound for vinyl-acetate-based products will take effect October 10, 2005 or as contracts allow.

In making the announcement, James Swanson, Vice President and General Manager, Architectural and Functional Coatings North America, cited the continuing run up in raw material, energy, and freight costs and the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina as reasons for the increase. Mr. Swanson pointed out that Katrina exacerbated an already difficult situation and expects raw material, energy, and freight costs to remain significantly high well into 2006.
