Jotun Inaugurates New State-of-the-Art Paint Factory in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia

Jotun Saudia inaugurated a new state of the art paint factory in Yanbu. A SAR 100 million investment in a highly- automated factory. The total capacity reaches an outstanding 110 million liters of paint and coatings in the Kingdom.

The factory boasts a high degree of automation and will exclusively produce water-borne paints. The fully air conditioned factory uses silos and tanks for handling of bulk raw materials limiting human effort and cutting production time. The closed production facility, water recycling systems and automatic fire detection equipments used in the factory will ensure the highest standards of operational safety and a healthy work environment.

With the inauguration of the new factory Jotun's installed production capacity in the Kingdom reaches 110 million liters of paint, making it one of the largest in the Middle East.

The inauguration was attended by following dignitaries:

  • Sheikh Ahmed Al Amoudi, founding partner, Jotun Saudia
  • Mr. Odd Gleditch Jr., founding partner & shareholder, Jotun A/S
  • Mr. Odd Gleditsch dy, Chairman of the Board, Jotun A/S
  • Mr. Morten Fon, President & CEO, Jotun A/S
  • Mr. Gunnar Thoresen, MD, Jotun Saudia

Also present were Sheikh Ibrahim Badawi, Chairman of Commerce & Industry of Yanbu, and H.E. Carl Wibye, Norwegian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia as chief guests for the inauguration.

In addition to the above the members of the board of Jotun A/S and the group management of Jotun A/S had travelled to Saudi Arabia to attend the inauguration ceremony.

25 years in the Kingdom

The inauguration of the new factory comes in a year when Jotun celebrates 25 years of its presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The inauguration function in the morning will be capped off with a gala celebration in the evening in Jeddah which will be attended by over 500 people comprising of Jotun's customers, suppliers, government officials, employees and visiting dignitaries.

Managing director Gunnar Thoresen stated: "We are witnessing a steep incline in the development of Saudi Arabia's infrastructure. Therefore the timing of our expansions and investments with in the Kingdom fall in hand with the rapid development of this country and the resultant demand for Jotun paints." The new factory represents Jotun's strong faith and belief in the long term prospects of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the ability of its wise leadership to take this country to greater heights.
