Jeff Wooster of The Dow Chemical Company Receives 2006 TAPPI PLACE Award

Houston, TX -- Jeff Wooster, senior value chain manager, Flexible Food and Specialty Packaging, The Dow Chemical Company, has been awarded the TAPPI PLACE Division's 2006 Leadership and Service Award and the Andreas G. Ahlbrandt Prize. Wooster was recognized for his proven history of contributions to the flexible packaging industry, TAPPI and its PLACE Division.

"Jeff's continued contribution to TAPPI is a key example of the type of industry leadership Dow people provide to the packaging industry, and of the broad expertise and value we offer to our customers by providing them with world class technical and market expertise."

TAPPI is the leading technical association for the pulp, paper and converting industries, as well as a leading resource for the flexible packaging industry. The PLACE Division represents technologies in polymers, laminations, adhesives, coatings and extrusions.

Since 1993, Wooster has been actively involved in TAPPI's PLACE Division. He is the former Division chairman, and is currently serving as a Division officer and Scholarship chairman. He has authored and presented numerous papers, been an instructor at two TAPPI short courses on blown and cast film extrusion and developed technical sessions for the Film Extrusion Committee.

Wooster joined Dow in 1988 after receiving a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University of Science and Technology. He spent five years in Polyolefins Product Research, developing new polyethylene resins and further advancing Dow's understanding of fundamental material science and polymer processing. In 1993, Wooster joined Plastics Technical Service and Development, where he has supported many of Dow's key polyolefin customers in the areas of stretch film, trash can liners and food packaging. He currently focuses on representing Dow's technology to key brand owning companies in the food packaging industry.

Wooster holds 42 U.S. and foreign patents and has published more than 30 technical papers.
