It has for many years been customary to Hempel A/S and its owner, the J.C. Hempel Foundation, to support young people in their endeavours to achieve major results.

Being a world-wide company, Hempel shares its international ambitions with the Danish Olympic sailing team.In six months' time, Olympic medals will be fought for in Athens, and as this Greek port is one of the major shipping centres in the world, Greece is also one of Hempel's most important marine coatings markets.Hempel's visions go "Beyond 2005", and by sponsoring the Olympic yachtsmen, a step towards the Olympics in China in 2008 is taken.

China is a strategically important - and Hempel's fastest growing - market; it therefore goes without saying that the agreement with the Danish Olympic Sailing Team will remain in force until then. The element in which the Danish contestants will sail is well-known to the almost 90-year-old Danish company.

Hempel's core business areas are marine paints, protective coatings, container coatings, coatings for windmills, decorative paints and yacht paints. Hempel will be the main sponsor, together with Elsam, the largest Danish producer of electricity and district heating. Considering the fact that Elsam is behind the largest offshore wind farm in the world, synergy in relation to the sea is also created here.

Yachting maintains the same values as Hempel does.Precision has to be in focus. Yachting in 2004 involves extremely small margins. The efforts prior to the races demand engagement and responsibility that can only be produced by the elite. And they have to approach the task with an open and innovative mind in order to continue the proud traditions of Danish yachting.
