Under the motto "Wood wins. With Glasurit", Glasurit GmbH, a company of BASF Coatings AG, will be exhibiting coating systems for all types of interior and exterior wood surfaces at the "fensterbau frontale" trade fair, which takes place from March 20 to 23, 2002 in Nuremberg. The Glasurit stand at this traditional meeting point for the window, door and facade construction industry and the building component retail sector provides wood-working specialists with the opportunity to find out about innovations such as the "FensterColor" mixing system for tinting transparent window coatings, the new "Eco-Coating System" for balconies, wood panels and pergolas and other perfectly matched product systems for both interior and exterior applications. The entire range of innovative wood coating systems from Glasurit is visibly governed by one overall guiding principle: all product systems are matched to one another and are mutually complementary. During the exhibition, Glasurit staff and engineers will be available for consulting and for demonstrating a wide range of exhibits. The 165 square meter Glasurit stand (no. 219) will be located in Hall 1. Customers and other interested visitors are invited to discuss new product developments and innovative wood coating concepts with experts.

The Glasurit "FensterColor" paint mixing concept, already proven in practical application, has now been expanded and optimized, resulting in the development of "paint-in-paint technology" for tinting transparent paints, a system that no other manufacturer is able to offer at present. Glasurit launched this system on the market only six months ago and is now presenting it to a broad specialist public. With this new technology, transparent and pigmented paints are mixed with the aid of an automatic mixing machine called "Sprinter". With this mixing system, the brilliance, color accuracy and weather resistance exactly conform to Glasurit finished products.

These products leave the factory ready-tinted. The advantages of the "Sprinter" mixing system are the associated reduction in stocks and the high flexibility.

Glasurit has also succeeded in transferring its many years of experience and positive results in the outdoor resistance of the OPS range - the open-pore coating system - to coatings for less dimensionally stable wood structures such as balconies, paneling and pergolas. The result is the Eco-Coating System to be displayed in Nuremberg, with the advantages of simple and rapid application, low-cost coating formulation and high resistance.

Comprehensive range of eco-efficient wood coating systems BASF Coatings sells around the world a complete range of innovative wood coating systems for original finishing as well as subsequent wood care, maintenance and renovation. The offer covers the entire range of industrial and craft-scale wood coating operations. Eco-efficient coating systems are particularly interesting, they include for example polyurethane (PU) based coatings where the focus is on color mixing systems; UV and electron-beam curable coatings with 100 percent solids content as well as radiation cured waterborne coating systems; water-based coatings and water-based stains.

The product range includes systems for the furniture industry, for manufacturers of building components such as staircases, boards, paneling, parquet, and for interior woodwork. In addition there are water-thinnable products for coating exterior wooden surfaces. Specialty products such as coatings for musical instruments and wooden trims for cars round off the product offer. Another module of the range consists of coating systems for the continuous application by roller to paper coil or plastic foil. These foils and edge bandings are used in the production of furniture and wood-based materials.

As in all other areas, BASF supports its customers in this business, too, by offering training seminars, service and know-how.
