Clariant at the NIP23 and Digital Fabrication 2007

Published on 2007-09-12. Author : SpecialChem

Muttenz, Switzerland -- From September 16 to 20, 2007, the 23rd International Conference on Digital Printing Technologies will be held in Anchorage, Alaska. For the first time, Clariant's Pigments & Additives Division (at Booth 502) will present its new brochures of innovative products for the toner and ink jet industry that guarantee brilliant inkjet prints even in large formats. In a poster presentation entitled "Ink Jet Pigments: The Triple S Concept" on September 17 in Section 2 (Ink Jet Printing Materials), Dr. Hans-Tobias Macholdt, Head of R&D Non-Impact Printing, will talk about the size, surface and shape requirements for pigments in inkjet inks.

After the great success of inkjet printing, the industry is experiencing another technology leap - this time in the field of raw materials. For inkjet colorants, this means a switch from soluble colorants to organic color pigments. With its portfolio of high-end organic color pigments and pigment preparations, Clariant as a raw material supplier responds to the continuously increasing demand of the industry for better, faster and more cost-efficient inks.

Inkjet pigments for solvent- and water-based inks

For the production of solvent-based and aqueous inkjet prints, Clariant offers a range of special developments, focusing on easy dispersion, high lightfastness and optimized stability in low-viscosity ink systems.

Permajet®: Solvent-based preparations with high-performance pigments

Pigment preparations of the Permajet®30 series are suitable for large-format inkjet printing. The products were especially developed for use in solvent-based inkjet inks. These solid preparations contain 50% pigment. The carrier material is a vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer that meets high solubility and stability requirements. Since only high-performance pigments are used, Permajets® feature outstanding lightfastness and weatherfastness which make them a perfect choice for outdoor applications.

Hostajet®: Water-based pigment preparations for excellent image quality

Under the brand name Hostajet® PT the Pigments & Additives Division offers nano-dispersed pigment preparations developed especially for inkjet printing. With their extremely small particle size they are suitable even for the most sophisticated print jobs and feature excellent image quality on all types of substrates. Unlike conventional preparations on the market, they feature good compatibility with acrylic resins and numerous solvents. Their outstanding lightfastness and weatherfastness make them superior to conventional colorants, even allowing the use of printed products outdoors.
