Canadian Government Invests in MDS Coating Technologies for Facility Expansion

Canadian Government MDS Coating Technologies Facility Expansion The Government of Prince Edward Island and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), on behalf of the Government of Canada, invest in MDS Coating Technologies’ (MCT) facility expansion which will also create well-paying jobs for highly skilled workers in the province.

Meeting Growing Commercial Demand


MCT is receiving $10.4 million in joint financial support to build a 15,000 square foot addition to its Slemon Park location.

The Government of Canada, through ACOA, is contributing $2.9 million to assist MCT with the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment for 3D metal printing, cleaning, and coating to increase production for growing commercial demand.

The provincial investment of $7.5 million, which includes a non-repayable grant of $500,000 from Innovation PEI, will also go towards the purchase of specialized aerospace equipment to allow MCT to meet growing demand for their advanced coating technology solutions.

Provincial and federal governments will continue to partner with industry leaders like MCT to help grow the Island economy through job creation, innovation and increased export growth opportunities.

Gilles Arsenault, minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Trade.

This funding will further propel the greening of the aerospace industry and we are proud to offer our continued support,” said Bobby Morrissey, member of parliament for Egmont.

This support will be a catalyst for MDS Coating to transition cutting-edge technology into new markets. Our growth will directly stimulate the local economy by creating additional skilled jobs in the clean technology and advanced manufacturing sectors in Prince Edward Island,” commented Adam Casey, vice-president of Operations, MDS Coating Technologies.
