Bayer MaterialScience LLC Lifts Force Majeure for Mondur M, a Monomeric MDI

Published on 2005-11-16. Author : SpecialChem

Bayer MaterialScience LLC is lifting "Force Majeure" regarding its ability to supply Mondur M (a monomeric MDI) and Mondur M containing products produced in North America (including Mexico and Canada), effective November 11.

The impact of Hurricane Rita on Bayer’s Mondur M operations in Baytown, Texas, and its raw material suppliers has been largely resolved.

On October 17, Bayer MaterialScience LLC announced that it lifted "Force Majeure" regarding its ability to supply Mondur TD-80 and Desmodur T80 produced in North America.

Bayer MaterialScience LLC remains in force majeure – since September 27 due to the preparation for and aftermath of Hurricane Rita – regarding its ability to supply Mondur ML (a monomeric MDI) and Mondur ML containing materials, amine-based polyether polyols, and liquid polyester polyols produced in North America (including Mexico and Canada).

Bayer MaterialScience continues to monitor these situations, and is working closely with its suppliers and affected customers.

MDI, TDI and polyether polyols are chemical constituents in the production of polyurethane microcellular foams and elastomers used in furniture, mattresses, automotive components, appliances, sports equipment, insulation and shoe soles. Liquid polyester polyols are used in the production of thermoplastic polyurethanes, prepolymers, polyurethane foams and several coatings products.
