Ashland Increases Resin and Gel Coat Prices

Published on 2004-07-28. Author : SpecialChem

DUBLIN (Ohio) -- Ashland Composite Polymers, a business group within Ashland Specialty Chemical, a division of Ashland Inc. (NYSE:ASH), is increasing by 7 cents per pound the price of its unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins, and by 9 cents per pound, the price of its gel coat products for North American customers. This adjustment will be effective with shipments on and after Aug. 16, 2004, and is in addition to all previously announced increases.

"In order to continue providing our customers with the reliable product supply they require, Ashland Composite Polymers must react quickly to the volatility the industry is experiencing throughout the supply chain," said Theodore "Ted" L. Harris, vice president, Ashland Specialty Chemical, and general manager, Composite Polymers.

Raw material, packaging and transportation costs are all continuing to escalate. The price for benzene, a key building block for styrene, is currently at an all-time high directly related to increasing demands and limited supplies.

"We thank our customers for their understanding of this challenging market situation, and we encourage them to contact their Ashland representative with any questions they may have," Harris concluded.
