The laying of the first stone of this project marks an important step in the development of the Pamiers site. It is part of AkzoNobel's strategy of growth and industrial excellence and underlines our company's ambition to create sustainable, efficient and environmentally friendly industrial infrastructures that meet market needs,” said Alexandre Gonin, president of AkzoNobel France.

Site Significance in Global Market

The AkzoNobel site in Pamiers produces and distributes paints for aeronautics in France and around the world. 40% of its production is intended for the French market, 20% for the European market and 40% for the world market.

It has unique industrial know-how, a capacity for innovation and proximity to its customers. AkzoNobel is the first European manufacturer to introduce waterborne coatings for aeronautics. The site continues to stand out for its innovations in durability and performance. It has two R&D laboratories. One is dedicated to aircraft structure paints and the second one is dedicated to interior cabin paints which work to develop chromate-free products.

Our role is to believe in the future and prepare for it. AkzoNobel, whose know-how is unique and recognized throughout the world, is today investing in Pamiers. It is testimony to its commitment to move in this direction and, on behalf of our municipality, you see me delighted,” said Frédérique Thiennot, madam mayor of Pamiers.

To be Operational by End of 2026

The work has just started and will last thirty months. They will take place in several stages in order to guarantee the continuity of the site's activity and high-quality service to its customers. These new infrastructures should be operational by the end of 2026.

The reconfiguration of the site will include the construction of two new buildings. The first, with an area of 2,252 m2, will include all storage of finished products, raw materials and packaging. The second, 895 m2, will accommodate tank cleaning and waste management.

A complete reorganization of existing buildings will also optimize internal flows. It will integrate fire detection and extinguishing systems, ventilation with filtration of atmospheric emissions as well as water management. This will be done at the cutting edge of technology and in line with the latest environmental requirements.
