Omnirad 819

Omnirad 819 (Former Irgacure 819) by IGM Resins is a versatile photoinitiator for radical polymerization of unsaturated resins upon UV light exposure.
  • It is especially designed for white pigmented formulations, the curing of glass-fiber-reinforced polyester/styrene systems and for clear coats for outdoor use in combinations with light stabilizers.
  • It is suitable for surface, through and LED cure.
  • It is applicable for clear and water-based systems.
  • It exhibits an outstanding curing performance in highly opaque white and colored furniture coatings containing rutile titanium dioxide or colored pigments at low concentrations.
  • Due to its photo sensitivity at longer wavelengths, it can easily be used in combinations with UV absorbers, e.g., Omnistab UV 400.
  • It is therefore ideally suitable for use in weather-resistant UV-curable coatings.
  • The recommended addition level for clear acrylate and UPES/styrene coatings is 0.1-0.2% + 1.0-2.0% Omnirad 184, white acrylate and UPES/styrene furniture coatings is 0.5-1.0% + 1.0-2.0 % Omnirad 651, colored acrylate formulations is 0.5-1.0% + 1.0-2.0% Omnirad 184, white screen printing inks is 0.5-1.5% + 1.0-2.0% Omnirad 184 and glass-reinforced UPES/styrene prepregs is 0.2-0.4%.
  • It is used in wood, metal, plastic, paper and optical fibers as well as for printing inks.
  • Omnirad 819 has a shelf life of 36 months.
