Genamin® D 01/2000 by Clariant is a multifunctional polypropylene glycol ether diamine. It contains high number of terminal primary amine groups attached to a high molecular weight polyether backbone based on propylene oxide (PO) or a mixture of ethylene oxide (EO) and propylene oxide (PO) (which can undergo all typical amine reactions). Exhibits low viscosity, moderate reactivity, hydrophobic diamine, narrow molecular weight distribution, low water content and very low color. Offers improved flexibility & toughness, robustness of end-product due to high crosslinking density, improved flow & levelling, increased water resistance, increased peel strength and higher purity of end-products. The amine groups of polyether amines react faster and form more stable reaction products than the hydroxyl groups of the corresponding polyglycols. Genamin® D 01/2000 optimizes open-time, causes less side-reactions during synthesis and reduces yellowing effects. Shows chemical reactions like salt formation with inorganic and organic acids, reaction with mono and di-functional isocyanates to form urea or polyurea derivatives, with mono- and di-functional carboxylic acids, anhydrides or esters to form diamides or polyamides, epoxides to form amino alcohols and with aldehydes & ketones to form imines. It is a yellowish to colorless clear to turbid viscous liquid at room temperature. Is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents like isopropanol or acetates. Genamin® D 01/2000 is a hydrophobic building block and is used as a reactive component or curing co-agent for epoxy coatings. It is listed in AICS, DSL, REACH, ENCS, IECSC, KECI, NECI, NZloC, PICCS and TSCA.
