Disperse-ayd® 1

Disperse-ayd® 1 by Elementis is a multifunctional pigment dispersing- and wetting agent as well as stabilizing aid for non-aqueous systems. It deflocculates most organic and inorganic pigments and prevents both hard settling and reagglomeration. It is fully compatible with many non-aqueous vehicles, including medium-oil alkyds, epoxy esters, oil- and alkyd-modified urethanes, and raw and bodied oils. It is compatible with short-oil alkyds, epoxies, chlorinated rubber, nitrocellulose and acrylics to permit trouble-free use in limited quantities with any industrial system. It shows effectivity with titanium dioxide, yellow oxyde, phthalo blue, quinacridone red, burnt umber. Disperse-ayd® 1 is used as the sole dispersing vehicle to make concentrated pigment dispersions. In plasticizers and similar non-polymer vehicles, such as DOP, DIDP or DIMP, as little as 1-2% of it will produce a marked reduction in viscosity and improved flow, allowing greatly increased pigment loading.
