Hexion has launched its latest high-performance epoxy dispersion, EPI-REZ™ Resin 7720-W-50 and a hybrid epoxy/polysiloxane resin, EPOSIL™ Resin 5550, in the Latin American market at the ABRAFATI trade show from Oct. 1-3 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Accelerating Growth of Newest Coatings Products
When combined with EPIKURE™ Curing Agent 6870-W-53, EPI-REZ™ Resin 7720-W-50 offers performance comparable to solvent-borne systems at less than 50 grams/liter of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Epoxy Dispersion to Ease Formulation Procedure
Ann Frederix, Senior Vice President, Epoxy Specialties notes, “
Conversion from traditional epoxy systems to waterborne epoxies does not mean you need to sacrifice performance because this new epoxy dispersion provides improved ease of formulation, superior adhesion to concrete or metal and excellent corrosion resistance. We’re excited to bring this coating product to a new market.”
EPOSIL™ Resin 5550 - Excellent Resistance to Corrosion
When cross-linked with aminosilanes, topcoats that incorporate Hexion’s EPOSIL™ Resin 5550 offer excellent resistance to corrosion, higher service temperatures and anti-graffiti properties, while providing excellent gloss retention and lower yellowing.
Achieve Durability with Hybrid Epoxy/Polysiloxane Coatings
Hybrid epoxy/polysiloxane coatings offer superior durability and are a high-performance alternative to traditional aliphatic polyurethane coatings that contain free isocyanate monomers.
“
With the introduction of this new hybrid resin, Hexion offers our customers a viable route to the formulation of lower yellowing, isocyanate-free topcoats,” said Dan Weinmann, Market Development Manager, Epoxy Specialties.
“We’ve seen traction with this product in the United States and we’re excited to see the reaction to it in a new market.”
