Omya, a global producer of industrial minerals, acquires Bublon GmbH, a technology producer of lightweight fillers/microspheres using closed cell expanded perlite. The acquisition extends Omya’s processing capability for lightweight fillers, adds patented, energy-efficient production processes, and a unique team of experienced technical experts.
Bublon technology is based on the controlled thermal expansion of raw perlite using proprietary state of the art electrical furnaces. The products combine enhanced hermeticity and high mechanical strength with a low carbon footprint.
