MÜNZING Innovation Customers Transformation The MÜNZING Group, a manufacturer of specialty additives headquartered in Abstatt, Germany, invests in the harmonization of a new organization with flat structures and efficient processes. This new organization will promote global exchange between its more than 600 employees, create synergies and thus be able to optimally support its customers as an innovative partner.

Merging Units to Transfer Knowledge & Create Synergies

The ‘Coatings, Construction & Adhesives’ (CCA) business unit, previously known as PCA-WAX, has now been consolidated. By merging two business units, the company is investing in internal knowledge transfer and creating synergies between the market segments.

This is a positive change because once this is completed this improves us as a team and makes us a better partner for our customers,” said Adam Bryan, CCA sales director for EMEA and India.

At the same time, MÜNZING is combining the expertise on the sensitive interaction of different additives in production lines for paper, laminate and wood panel manufacturing by migrating the ‘Paper’ division to the ‘Process Technology’ business unit.

Paper manufacturing and paper converting are highly optimized processes today, where this focus is essential to support our customers to further enhance the process,” said Dr. Jürgen Daiß, head of Business Unit Process Technology.

As consumers are increasingly using online media and online shopping, packaging papers are becoming more important than traditional print products. The demand for food packaging made of paper is also increasing and high expectations need to be met when it comes to barrier coatings and PFAS regulations.

Food Business - Essential Element of Growth Strategy

"At MÜNZING, we embrace such dynamics as a growth driver and we work very closely with our customers to help them benefit from these changes," continued Dr. Daiß.

Expanding their focus on the food additive industry, MÜNZING has split off the food additives into its own group. Now, they will have dedicated experts for industrial fluids and food markets.

Establishing a dedicated business unit allows us to cultivate resources with specialized knowledge of applications and products. Customers will now benefit from a sales and technical team with a profound grasp of our products, enabling them to effectively address foam-related challenges in food applications,” said Patrick Lowery, chief operations officer of the MÜNZING Group.

Leveraging Synergies to Power Innovation

The new structure is complemented by the Global Technology department, whose highly qualified experts work in cross-functional teams on the development of sustainable and innovative additives in close collaboration with customers. Their most important potential is to leverage synergies between previously separate business unit R&D departments.

Our target is to offer the same level of local technical service to customers in Europe, Asia and the US, for all our products and served applications. Customers will benefit from innovative products utilizing our full range of chemistry and application know how,” said Dr. Thomas Sommermann, chief technology officer.

By fostering continuous knowledge sharing and establishing common practices and standards, MÜNZING effectively leverages synergies while tailoring its solutions to specific industry and customer requirements.

Additionally, we have expanded our global manufacturing capacity in Europe, Asia and North America to ensure that we meet the needs of our customers today and in the future,” said Michael Riggs, global head of CCA. These investments have positioned the company to excel in the face of future challenges.

Dedicated to providing exceptional technical expertise and customer support, MÜNZING's revamped organizational structure reinforces its commitment to collaborating closely with customers to identify optimal solutions for their formulation needs.
