CHS-Alkyd S 401 X 60

An air-drying alkyd resin of pentaerythritol and phthalic acid modified by 40% soyabean oil fatty acids, delivered as medium viscous 60% solution in xylene. Used as a binder for solventborne coatings applications for manufacturing of air-drying coatings, especially fast drying economic primers and anti-corrosive coatings used on metal surfaces also for coating compositions supplied in aerosol containers and also suitable as binder for combination with nitrocellulose, chlorinated rubber and baking coatings in combination with melamine formaldehyde resin. Dries by oxopolymerization in combination with suitable drier. Exhibits solubility in xylene, toluene, butyl acetate, white spirit and miscibility with short and medium oil length alkyd resins and limited with long oil length alkyd resins. Its shelf life is 12 months.
