Black A Patinal®

Black A Patinal® by Merck KGaA, Darmstadt Germany is a powder material, developed for vacuum deposition of thin film (<1µm) coatings with blackish appearance. Black A Patinal® coatings are suitable for decorative and optical applications on glass and plastics. They have a glossy appearance. If required, reflection can be reduced by adding a thin silicon dioxide or aluminium oxide optical layer on top. Black A Patinal® layers are hard, adhesive and have good resistance against humid air and salt solutions and can also resist increased temperatures. Black A Patinal® layer deposition is accomplished by evaporation in vacuum.
