KBE-846

Technical Datasheet | Supplied by Shin-Etsu
Bis (Triethoxysilylpropyl) tetra sulfide. Acts as a coupling agent. Its individual molecules contain sulfide functional group and ethoxy group characterized by different reactivity. It bonds organic material to inorganic material. KBE-846 is typically used in the form of a dilute aqueous solution. It is very effective with sulfur cross-linked EPM. Also effective with nitrile rubber, neoprene rubber, epichlorohydrin rubber and styrene butadiene rubber (SBR), polysulfide and urethane rubber. When it is used for surface treating an inorganic material to promote adhesion between the inorganic material and an organic material, it acts by forming chemical bonds with resins, hydrogen bonding with resins and improving the wettability as well as miscibility of resins. Used to make highly weatherable paints. Also used as a raw material for hard-coat materials.
