Pidicryl 790

Pidicryl 790 by Pidilite Industries is an anionic hydrophobically modified alkali swellable emulsion (HASE) thickener. It can thicken the water phase in emulsion paint and forms network of associative bonds with emulsion particles that gives more uniformity and better rheological properties. It is possible to partially replace cellulosic thickener (e.g. HEC) by blending with Pidicryl 790 for cost effective paint formulations. It exhibits reduced tendency of spatter and impart excellent stability. When applied by rollers, they show remarkable reduction in roller splatter and improved paint deposition per coat. It shows excellent sag resistance without compromising flow and leveling. It is widely used in latex paint formulation. It is mostly recommended in high PVC formulation as partial replacement of cellulose thickener. The dosage level of the grade varies from 0.1-2.0% depending on the formulation.
