Deuteron® MM 659

Compound based on polymers and highly dispersed silica. Acts as a matting agent for radiation curing systems. Reduces the gloss and at a higher dosage the viscosity will only be slightly increased. Good flow and processibility remain and allow for all usual application processes. Spoiling of the transparency in UV-curing lacquers is not possible due to the favorable composition of DEU-TERON MM 659. Shows very good resistance regarding burnishing and mar resistance. Imparts coatings a soft touch and good wetting properties. The additional use of waxes, PTFE or similar products is not necessary in general. A reaction between matting agent and lacquer system and thus a spoiling of the storage stability has not been noticed. Experiences have shown that the required matting effect can be achieved particularly in presence of UV-curing acrylic resins as binders and the use of reactive-dissolvent. The partial evaporation of the reactive-dissolvent results in little shrinkage of the film during the drying process. This supports the matting of the system. When using UV-curing epoxy resins as binder, in which case the addition of a reactive-dissolvent is not necessary because of their low viscosity, the required matting effect cannot always be achieved with DEUTERON MM 659. Dosage: The dosage depends on the character of the binder and the required degree of gloss. Initial laboratory trials should start with an addition of 5 -10 %.
