BYK® -3450

Technical Datasheet | Supplied by BYK
BYK®-3450 is polyether-modified siloxane by Byk (Altana Group). It acts as a surfactant for aqueous printing inks, overprint varnishes, inkjet inks & aqueous coatings. It provides a significant reduction in surface tension. It offers improved wetting on very non-polar substrates such as polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene terephthalate and coated offset paper. It possesses good leveling and excellent spreading capabilities. It avoids increasing surface slip. and can stabilize foam. It is also used in thin-layered application. It can be combined with polysiloxane such as BYK-333 or BYK-3760 to offer slip. It is designed for use in formulations which do not contain co-solvents. It can be used in architectural coatings based on styrene-acrylic, pure acrylate, PU-acrylate combinations, polyurethanes and alkyd emulsions. The dosage level of BYK®-3450 is 0.1-1% for printing inks & overprint varnishes, 0.1-1.5% for inkjet ink and 0.1-0.5% for architectural coatings based on total formulation.
