BYK® -1788

BYK® -1788 by BYK is a combination of surface-active substances. It is a VOC- and silicone-free polymer defoamer for solvent-borne, high-solid, and solvent-free systems. It is particularly suitable for 100 % UV systems and is recommended for clear coat systems and thermosets without having a negative impact on surface properties, gloss or transparency. BYK®-1788 combines broad compatibility with an effective defoaming action and can be used both in the millbase and in the letdown product. It displays excellent air-release properties and improves surfaces and reduces the evacuation time of composites. It is compatible with epoxy, unsaturated polyester resins, acrylates and polyurethane resins with 0.1-0.75 % recommended levels. It is recommended for use in leather coatings and general industrial coatings. It is especially recommended for use in wood and furniture coatings. Recommended dosage is 0.3-0.5% of additive based upon total formulation.
