Dehysol® LFW 100

Dehysol® LFW 100 by BASF is a phthalic acid ester of a special mixture of alcohols. It is used as bi-functional special plasticizer which acts in nitrocellulose lacquers simultaneously as a primary plasticizer and a fatty acid ester. It does not dissolve nitrocellulose at room temperature. It shows its gelatinizing properties for nitrocellulose only at higher temperatures approx. 100 °C. Dehysol® LFW 100 improves solvent release as well as smoothness and scratch resistance of the film surface by using with a secondary plasticizer. It can be easily combined with alkyd-maleic and urea resins, but not with highly polar binders such as ketone-aldehyde resins. It develops its positive properties above all in thick film finishes where high demands are made in respect of drying properties and stackability. It is suitable for nitrocellulose wood and furniture lacquers.
