Ethylhexyl acetate. It acts as a coalescent agent and solvent for emulsion paints. It is clear, high boiling and colorless. It improves flow and film formation, possesses characteristic ester odor and good solvent power for cellulose nitrate, many natural and synthetic resins. It exhibits good miscibility with all common solvents eg. alcohols, ketones, aldehydes, ethers, glycols, glycol ethers, and aromatic & aliphatic hydrocarbons, but limited miscibility with water. Used for paint and coating formulations, e.g. for cellulose nitrate paints and chemical downstream industries.
