Afcona -5009

Fatty acid modified polyamide. Acts as anionic/cationic wetting and dispersing additive to improve the wetting of pigment surfaces. Reduces the interfacial tension between pigments or extenders and the vehicle. Stabilizes the pigments through electrical charge repulsion forces. Used in primer and some decorative paint. Also widely used in marine and heavy duty paints as these paint systems do not require very high gloss finishing and the chemical as well as physical properties are more important than the appearance. Addition and dosage: 0.2 - 2.0% based on inorganic pigments, 2.0 - 5.0% based on organic pigments.
