ZRC Worldwide Launches low-VOC Coating Product, ZRC-250

Published on 2004-12-17. Author : SpecialChem

ZRC Worldwide has launched a low-VOC coating product, ZRC-250 which preserves the proven corrosion protection properties of the company's flagship ZRC Cold Galvanizing Compound, but contains an industry-leading low level of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Matthew R. Steele, president of ZRC Worldwide, commented that laboratory and field testing have shown that ZRC-250 provides the same level of protection as any other product in the market, but at comparitively lower VOC levels, hence becoming a very environmentally safe product.

The product contains only 221 grams/liter of VOCs which is said to be industry low thereby meeting the VOC standards in all 50 states and military specs. The product is a single component product which requires minimal surface preparation and is heat resistant up to 750°F.

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are produced from the reducing solvents used in paints and coatings which are rich in zinc. VOCs are greatly regulated by both the U.S. Government and individual state environmental protection laws.

ZRC is an international leader in zinc coating technology for the protection of iron and steel. ZRC's quality system is registered by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. to ISO 9001 standards for the design and manufacture of corrosion resistant coatings.
