CHEVY CHASE, MD-RadTech has just published a new book: UV Powder Coating Application Guide. This 88 page guide is the collaboration of industry experts participating in the RadTech UV Powder Focus Group. "UV powder coatings are truly a revolution in powder technology, which continues to gather momentum," says Walt Blatter of HB Fuller and Chair of the RadTech Powder Group. "It is easy to see that the paint and coatings market will be changed forever. UV powder coatings can provide solutions for many finishing applications and manufacturing processes--the challenge is to identify where the 'best' opportunities exist."

While the book's general focus is application to MDF (medium density fiberboard), it has wide application to nearly any possible UV Powder use. Book sections include: process overview, wood, pretreatment, formulation storage and handling, application methods, curing equipment, test methods, troubleshooting, economics, and health and safety. Also included is a handy reference section, with a glossary of terms and "frequently asked questions."

"The UV Powder Coating Application Guide is full of valuable information on this important and timely technology," says Rodger Talbert of R. Talbert Consulting, and guide editor. "While the interest in powder application on temperature sensitive substrates has been strong for some time, the industry has not produced an authoritative guide to help would be users. RadTech has filled this need."

UV and EB offer manufacturers a high value, rapid throughput curing technology, which virtually eliminates the pollution and lowers the energy consumption of traditional methods. UV and EB technologies typically provide users a safer, faster, more efficient process, combined with very low emissions. As a result, the industry has been growing at over twice the rate of the traditional processes over the last several years.
