Sun Chemical showcases SunCure Advantage™ in the UK

Published on 2008-11-27. Author : SpecialChem

ST MARY CRAY, UK -- Sun Chemical showcased SunCure Advantage™, its breakthrough Ultraviolet (UV) curing sheetfed offset ink, at "Innovations in Print", held at the Komori showroom in Leeds on 4-6 November 2008.

SunCure Advantage offers a wide range of benefits for UV printers of packaging in the UK and this event demonstrated the advantages of using the ink to printers first hand.

SunCure Advantage uses a UV curing formulation containing about 30% of materials from sustainable sources, and is designed specifically for sheetfed offset printing on a wide range of carton board and paper substrates. It is ideal for printing secondary food packaging, as they are formulated without the use of isopropyl thioxanthone or benzophenone. Suitable for use on all UV presses including the latest high-speed machines, the inks are available in a full range of process inks, blending colours, and Pantone GOE systems, and can be used to produce Pantone PMS shades, 6-colour process FM6 and metallic colours.

Tony Palmer, packaging business director, Sun Chemical UK & Ireland, said: "SunCure Advantage inks represent a major breakthrough in 'eco-friendly' ink technology. They contain about 30% of materials from sustainable sources, which was previously very difficult to achieve for a UV curing ink. At Sun Chemical, we strive constantly to reduce our impact and our customers' impact on the environment and strive to maximise the use of renewable resources. SunCure Advantage is another example of this commitment. As well as traditional applications, SunCure Advantage printing inks meet the additional lithographic demands of high speed printing with good transfer and dot gain even at the highest speeds."
